Few places in the world have such a splendid variety of natural beauty as the Annapurna region. It is a rare combination of long arrays of snow-capped peaks, crystal clear lakes, turbulent rivers with deep gorges, Tibetan monasteries, hot -spring, and picturesque villages inhabited by simple and friendly ethnic people. A sacred valley ringed by enormous peaks, the Annapurna Sanctuary is a hidden glacial hollow that shimmers like a jewel in the mountains. This is a trek to a land of enchantment. No one can fail to be pressed by the diversity highlighted on this adventure. The snow-covered peaks of the Annapurna Peaks offer a taste of Nepal’s remarkable pleasures.
Also known as Annapurna Base camp trek, this two weeks program affords a fine opportunity to surround oneself with major Himalayan peaks, in a relatively short span of time, without having to contend with extreme altitudes. The trail goes northwest from Pokhara and along the Modi Khola directly north right into a natural amphitheater of high mountains with 360-degree views of Annapurna South (7219m), Annapurna III (7555m), Gangapurna (7454m) and Macchapuchhre (6993m). This trek, within its short duration, provides an interesting variety of climate, vegetation and terrain - from lowland subtropical villages growing rice to alpine vegetation closer to the pass and into the sanctuary where access could be difficult in mid-winter because of snow.
